UNIVERSITY EDUCATION

In Patras, there are schools and departments of the University of Patras and the University of the Peloponnese. The HEIs operating in Patras are inextricably linked to research institutes, which make the city an important scientific center with remarkable achievements in technical education.

Hellenic Open University: The administration buildings, etc. are located in the Perivola area, very close to the Apollon Patras Indoor Gymnasium and the Glafkos River and 6½ km southwest of the city center. Since March 2016, the library of the EAP has been housed in a building in the Koukouli neighborhood (address: Patron-Klaous 183), relatively close to the administration buildings.
University of Patras: The central facilities of the University are located in Rio, a suburb of the city, 7 km northeast of the center of Patras. Some departments of the institution are also housed in the premises of the former Technical Institute of Western Greece.
University of the Peloponnese: The institution, based in Tripoli, Arcadia, also has a branch in Patras. The School of Engineering and its three departments are housed in the premises of the former Technical Institute of Western Greece.
